Before I get to my thumbnail sketches, let me tell you about my last couple of days. Great they were!
I have just returned from Salt Spring Island where I spent time with good friends, Sandy and Andrea. First, a short overnight with Sandy (we watched the movie The Artist – worth seeing if you haven’t – with pizza) and then, a jam-packed two days with Andrea.
In no particular order Andrea and I worked on an art project (Andrea’s brilliant idea), ate fabulous food, drank deeeelicious daiquiri especial and red wine, walked on the beach, went to a Chamber of Commerce mixer that included wine tasting and seeing old friends, went for a short art fix at the studios of Deon and Kathy Venter, sat in the sunshine (yay!) with a smoothie, dropped in for a Hi! visit with my Mum and Dad, drank morning cappuccino in the hot tub and I even got dragged to the gym (okay, it was actually rather fun and made me feel strong like bull!). Splendid. It all nourished the creative impulse.
I’ll tell you about our art project in another blog but here’s a couple of teaser photos.

Today I was back in my own studio. Inspired by Joan Eardley, I made a couple of thumbnail sketches for a painting idea I’m working on. That led to thumbnails inspired by Twatchman and Van Gogh. Interesting group of artists yeah? Don’t ask me how it happened, it just did. From there, I moved to the painting. We’ll see what happens.

I can’t wait to hear the details of the project. Maybe it would be something fun for Lyle and I to do!
