How To Pastel

I am sooooooo excited!! After months of working on and off creating this new website, I’m finally ready to launch it officially.

You might ask, Why a new site? Well, the main reason is that I have different people interested in different aspects of art on my gailsibley.com website. Some are interested in the art and a bit of process while some want more detail on pastels and how to use them to create pastel paintings. So I decided to create a new site, a place where people who are interested in learning how to pastel can find out more in-depth information. There’ll definitely be some crossover but the How to Pastel website will be completely focused on soft pastel.

If you are interested in knowing more about how to use pastels, how to create a pastel painting, reviews of pastels and anything pastel-related, pastel workshops and classes, and interviews with well-known pastellists, then head on over to howtopastel.com.

To encourage you to subscribe, I have created a wee contest. When you subscribe, you are entered into a draw for a print. If you yourself aren’t interested in subscribing because, well, you aren’t interested in learning how to pastel, no worries. Just encourage someone else to sign up and when they do, you also will be entered in the draw. You’ll just need to let me know their name.

The contest closes 31 December 2013 midnight PST – that’s only 5 days to go!!

The winner of the draw will be able to pick from these prints.
The winner of the how to pastel subscription draw will be able to make a selection from these prints!

Happy Holidays!!

Here we are sliding quickly into the end of the year. Can you believe it???

Heading for the mainland, Cam and I had a most wonderful visit with my brother Brett’s family for a couple of days just before Christmas. It included lounging about being totally lazy, making and decorating cookies, watching movies, and catching up on our various lives.

Then back at home, a quiet, lazy Christmas Day, just the two of us – sleep, eat, open presents, eat and drink, sleep some more, eat and drink some more. A perfect day.

Today, Boxing Day, it’s a bit of back to work, including writing this blog and doing some tweaking on the how to pastel website, but still, taking it pretty easy.

Now, it’s time to curl up and continue reading, How the Light Gets In, an excellent mystery by Louise Penny.

The warmest of wishes to you,

~ Gail

  1. Gail, I love your new website. I will go through every bit! Can’t wait for your on line classes. You are an amazing artist and I love your style and how you interpret color. Something that is not intuitive for me, but want to learn.. If one can learn that.

I am sure you will continue to have much success!

    Happy New Year.

    Sam

  2. Hi Gail… wow! Your new site looks fabulous! Please sign me up. I went to the new website but didn’t find anything telling me specifically how to subscribe, so am asking you to simply sign me up. Can you do this, or must I do something more actively on the new website? I also sent out your last blog to all my Mexican and SSI painter buddies so hopefully some of them will also sign up.

What a plus to offer a drawing for one of your wonderful pastels. I’ll hold my breath to see if I’m the lucky one!
